When planing hard woods like rosewood, it is recommended to take small bites. Makita is known for creating products that work straight out of the box, and their Surface Planer is no exception as it is very intuitive. The tool is also lightweight, unlike its Dewalt counterpart, which is considerably heavier. On the downside, the machine is made in China - this was the only issue one customer had with it. Some customers complained about minor details that could have been improved or changed, such as short electrical cords and thin feed tables. Generally, the Makita planer is a high-quality, flawless tool that is fit for a small or large woodworking shop.
