Answer: Possibly the beeswax candles may peak a honey lovin bears interest. But just yell at them to leave, they are pretty much like big dogs.... black bears at least... in VT at least... the ones I've encountered at least... BEAR CANDLES!!! -

Are these made in the US?
Answer: Nope. Just purchased the tumbled aluminum (plain/no coating), and it says made in China on the base. Unfortunately, compared to my older UCO, the quality is a bit less. The candle assembly wobbles pretty bad and doesn't feel secure. -

How much heat does this throw out? Could you use it to heat a small microclimate / shelter?
Answer: About 1500 BTU, won't heat much. The 3 candle candelier produces 5,000 BTU's, and may be sufficient. -

Answer: Yes, on the bottom are the words 'Made in the U.S.A. in Redmond WA' -

Answer: Just to correct GMCPCS, UCO moved to making their products in China in 2019. -

Do these candles put out much heat?
Answer: The candles put off enough to start a fire if knocked over, but not enough to cook your breakfast. -

Does the glass get black from smoke?
Answer: Provided you have trimmed your wick, no. A properly trimmed wick will make the candles last longer too. You want about 3/8 of an inch or around 10 mm. I've used mine extensively and while the glass might gather a little film on it, it does not gather soot. You would have to burn the candle with an over-long wick and at an angle for the soot to be deposited on the glass. -

Can a replacement glass globe be ordered for this lantern?
Answer: Yes. I bought a replacement glass from their website a few months ago and still have it. At the moment they don't seem to have any in stock. -

Does the lantern come with a candle?
Answer: Yes, it comes with a candle, and it really does last over 9 hours. We used ours in a camping situation and loved it. Order an extra 3 pack of candles. They're very useful and you'll be glad you did. -

Answer: Yes! We purchased two for early morning smoothies. The blade is off-center but that is done on purpose so good doesn't get caught in the mechanisms. Motor is quiet. Easy clean up.
