I took a look at the specs for the swann NVR8-7400 on Swaan's site, and it states the NVR8-7400 has an eSATA port. So, if you buy an external drive enclosure that has an external SATA port (NOT eSATA), then yes, this cable will work. However, most enclosures at present use the more appropriate eSATA port for external SATA connectivity. If this is the case, then you would need an eSATA to eSATA cable, such as B00V6QA282.
