Copic Ciao markers are an excellent, cost-effective alternative to the more expensive Copic Sketch markers. They were initially designed for children, so they are easy to hold and use. The only differences between Ciao and Sketch markers are that the Ciaos hold less ink and have a round barrel. Ciaos perform the same as Sketch, except for the number of colors offered. One disadvantage of this set is the limited number of skin tones, although there are other sets with more colors available. Copic natural colors and brights would be a great next set once the gift receiver gets more comfortable using them. The markers have a brush tip which makes them very versatile. Various papers and sketchbooks can be used with Copic markers, with comic book illustration pad being a personal favorite.
