Answer: It has body-mounted magnetic knuckle couplers. -

Is this engine compatible with Bachman couplers, tracks, etc.?
Answer: The engine will work with bachmann track no problem. With the cars it will work with the modern cars that have knuckle couplers, but not with the old cars from the 70s, 80s, and even 90s. You can replace those old horn hook couplers with new kadee couplers and those work great. -
Question:
Is it DCC ready?
Answer: No, these are not chipped. The dcc chip is about an extra 25-75.00. But this is not a bad price for what you get. -
Question:
Does this engine have the motor in it, not just the 'dummy' engine?
Answer: Yes, the engine has the motor in it. You can run it out of the box. -
Question:
Does it come with the tracks?
Answer: If it does not explicitly say so in the item description then assume it does NOT! Track is not too expensive though. -

Can it ride on DC 15V analog?
Answer: I'm not sure. Check the output specs on the transformer you have. -

Is applying 12 volts to the track enough to run this train well?
Answer: Don't really understand what you mean by 12 volts. This locomotive runs very well with any standard power pack designed for model railroading. This unit works great with any of my Bachman power packs. -

Is HO scale the same as rail gauge or 1.87?
Answer: HO scale is 1:87. -

Is this locomotive available in the Montana Rail Link scheme?
Answer: Sorry, no it is not. -

Would this be too big for a kids wooden train track?
Answer: This is an HO scale model, designed to operate on HO scale model railroad track. It has nothing to do with wooden train tracks and trains such as Brio, Thomas, Melissa & Doug, Hape or other similar items. -

Does the Bachmann tracks fit on the Walthers trains?
Answer: Yes. HO scale track is the same for all manufacturers.
