Horror Editorial Review
Irreversible: 2 Disc Collectors Edition is a provocative film directed by Gaspar Noé, embodying the New French Extremity movement. It’s presented in reverse chronological order, showing the aftermath before the events unfold, which challenges traditional narrative structures. Critics note its intense content, including extreme violence and psychological trauma, with Roger Ebert highlighting its controversial yet essential commentary on human nature and the consequences of actions. Viewers express a mix of admiration and discomfort about the raw performances by Vincent Cassell and Monica Bellucci, and the film's dizzying camerawork adds to its unsettling nature, making it a thought-provoking piece of art that lingers long after viewing.
