VIVID STORM SINCE 2004 Projection Screens VSDSTUST100H Editorial Review
The Vivastorm 120" UST ALR Perforated Screen is an excellent product, which means that though expensive, it’s worth it. It has high picture quality, with good tension, is a relatively portable size and is easy to move around. The motor function is smooth and fast, not too loud and you can fine tune the height with the remote. One can defeat the edge distortion by leaving a 1 or 2 inch blank border, but adjusting such that you leave a blank border can give less than 100" of viewable screen size. It works perfect and has an outstanding image quality for short throw projectors. Some cons include the screen surface blemishes upon close inspection and vertical black bars on the far right of the screen. Another problem is that when purchasing this screen size, you must take into consideration your living environment and how the screen will fit and be handled. For instance, if you live in a highrise building, will it fit in the elevator? Will you have enough space in the hallway to turn and enter your apt? The screen comes with instruction manuals that may put people off, including installing the brackets, hiding the bottom black section and getting rid of wrinkles on the screen. The floor rising screens for ultra short throw 4K use have a sawtooth design for ambient light rejection which means they have to be tightened the whole time or the image distorts, so wind is not your friend. Though the screen is sensitive to pressure, making it difficult to clean with a soft paint brush in a horizontal motion, it is great that it rolls away as the screen is protected from damage and dust when not in use. As a buyer, one must ensure the screen will fit their ultra short throw projector specifications as ultra short throw projectors have to be precisely positioned. This screen is fantastic, as it delivers on its promise of great image quality with good tension, portable size and easy movement.
