What Stands Out
Product Details
- Victor Hugo (1802-1885): One of the greatest writers of French literature ever. He is known for his poems, plays and novels. He is the representative of the romanticism movement in France. In addition to his enormous achievements in literature, he also played an active role in political life, so he was sentenced to exile, and although he completed his sentence, he did not return to France until the Empire collapsed. The author dedicated his novel Sea Workers, which was first published in 1866, to Guernsey Island, where he went into exile and did not leave after the exile decision was annulled, and spent 15 years there, and to the marine workers living there. With this work, the author brought to literature the struggle for life of all poor marine workers, especially a Guernsey marine worker who had to save a stranded ship alone in order to reunite with the woman he loved, with admirable and detailed descriptions, and honored their struggles with the ancient language of maritime and the sea. The third and last book of the author's trilogy, which deals with the Hunchback of Notre-Dame and the subjects of religion, Les Misérables and society, dealing with nature, Sea Workers, with illustrations by Gustave Dore, meets with readers in the Hasan Ali Yücel Classics Series.
